In June of 2012, I participated in "National Game Development Month" (NaGaDeMo). I had done game development jams before (Ludum Dare 48 and PyWeek), and was interested in taking on a challenge with a little longer timeline, but still a structure that gave me the incentive to finish on a fixed timeline.
I've enjoyed computer role playing games (CRPGs) since I was a child, and have been slowly accumulating a design for an epic, sprawling, turn-based, party-oriented CRPG. That design's still far off in the distance, but I decided to make a playable CRPG in a month to get the feel for the project.
The game was implemented using PlayN, a cross-platform game framework that targets Java, HTML5/JavaScript, Android, and iOS.
